Garden Grove, California’s Brody Roa is ready for three of the biggest nights in his racing career at the 23rd Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals Presented by All Coast Construction at Perris Auto Speedway. The three-night affair will be comprised of preliminaries on Thursday and Friday, November 8th & 9th, and the season finale on Saturday, November 10th.
Roa, 27, has been embroiled in a seesaw battle for the USAC/CRA championship all season long. He enters this weekend’s race at the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval in second place, but is only 5-points out of the lead. It was at last year’s Oval Nationals that Roa won the biggest race of his career when he bested a field comprised of élite drivers from the USAC National and USAC/CRA series.’
Roa was in action last weekend at the prestigious 51st Western World Championships at the Arizona Speedway. On Friday, the friendly driver qualified 17th in the 30-car field and won his heat race. For the main he started 15th and stayed in that spot most of the way. However, a late race charge saw the green #91R move forward to a seventh-place finish to earn the “Hard Charger Award.” The following night, Roa qualified 20th in the 29-car field and finished third in his heat race. After starting 17th, he again advanced forward in the main event and finished 13th.
This weekend’s three-day show at Perris will feature a purse of more than $131,000.00 with the winner on Thursday and Friday taking home $5,000.00. The winner on Saturday will pocket $25,000.00.
